COVID-19 Response Kabul Urban, 2020
The first COVID-19 case in Afghanistan was identified in Mid-February 2020. Some Afghans who came back to Afghanistan from Iran could have brought in the infection. To control the spread Government of Afghanistan declared lockdown in major cities beginning in 3rd week of March 20, However, exemptions were provided to the Humanitarian Organizations, to deliver Aid to the poorest. However, the Lockdown in most urban centers have caused a lot of hardship to the daily wage earners and other informal sector workers. In view of this ActionAid that was so far doing only Awareness raising activities also initiated a small food security intervention with the urban poor in Kabul.
