Urgent Support to Earthquake-Affected Areas in Herat Province

ActionAid, Afghanistan, with financial support of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), launched a crucial project to provide immediate assistance to the earthquake-affected areas in Herat province. The primary objective of this initiative was to reach out to over 23,000 households residing in various districts of Herat province including Kushk Kohna, Gulran, Kushk Rabat Sangi, Zendajan, Injil, Ghoryan, Karukh, Adrakan, and Guzara.

The recent heavy snowfall severely impacted livestock holders, causing the loss of a significant number of their livestock. These households traditionally relied on livestock as their primary source of income, making them particularly vulnerable during that critical time.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation and the need to support the affected communities, ActionAid took proactive measures. ActionAid, Afghanistan distributed animal feed packages to the affected households, with each package containing 200 kg of concentrated feed. This initiative aimed to help these households survive the unexpected cold wave and protect their animals, which were vital for their livelihoods.

Throughout the mentioned project, with financial support of FAO-Afg ,  ActionAid, Afghanistan demonstrated unwavering commitment to supporting the earthquake-affected areas in Herat province. By promptly responding to the emergency and initiating the distribution of animal feed, it provided crucial assistance to the most vulnerable households in the targeted districts. Their ongoing efforts significantly alleviated the hardships faced by the affected communities and played a pivotal role in their recovery.
