ActionAid, Afghanistan Mitigates Winter Impact on Livelihoods in Remote areas of Balkh Province

Beneficiaries receiving animal feed.

The recent cold wave during winter had a profound effect on the livelihoods of families dependent on animal husbandry and related products. Fortunately, ActionAid, Afghanistan, through the UN-FAO funded OSRO/AFG/129(203) ASB project, provided support to approximately 1900 beneficiaries across three remote and mountainous districts in Balkh province.

In these remote areas, families experienced food insecurity, while their livestock struggled to cope with the harsh winter conditions. To address this challenging situation, ActionAid, Afghanistan distributed animal feed to 1900 households in the districts of Zari (650 households), Kishendeh (600 households), and Charkint (650 households).

The distribution efforts were carried out diligently in March 2024 ensuring that the affected families received the necessary assistance on time.

Authorities in Balkh, including DIAL and DoE, expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the organization's unwavering dedication to helping the underprivileged. Their gratitude extended to ActionAid, Afghanistan, whose ability to manage such critical assistance in emergency situations has made a significant impact on the lives of those in need.
