ActionAid Afghanistan Implements Home Gardening Project in Jawzjan Province

a door-to-door household survey to identify the needs and preferences of the beneficiaries.

ActionAid Afghanistan's northern region team is currently implementing the home gardening sub-project as part of the GCP AFG 106 USA project in Aqcha and Qoshtepe districts of Jawzjan province supported by FAO. This initiative aims to benefit 2,666 households headed by females and persons with disabilities.

The project focuses on strengthening agriculture in these districts by providing home gardening packages to the beneficiaries. This support enables them to cultivate their own gardens and earn a sustainable livelihood. The home gardening project specifically targets female-headed households and those led by persons with disabilities, offering them opportunities for economic empowerment and self-sufficiency.

By receiving the necessary resources and training, the beneficiaries will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to successfully engage in home gardening activities. This project plays a vital role in empowering these households, providing them with a means to generate income and improve their overall livelihoods.

Currently, the project is in the stage of conducting a door-to-door household survey to identify and assess the needs and preferences of the beneficiaries. This survey will ensure that the support provided aligns with the specific requirements and circumstances of each household.

ActionAid, Afghanistan remains committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and empowering vulnerable households in Jawzjan province. Through the home gardening project, the organization aims to create opportunities for economic growth, food security, and improved living conditions for female-headed households and persons with disabilities.
