Women’s Businesses Grow When Market Opportunities Open

For women entrepreneurs, connecting with customers can turn skills into income and open doors to lasting business growth. A business exhibition organized by LSO in Kabul, with support from ActionAid, Afghanistan, created this opportunity for 25 women-led micro, small and medium enterprises.

Twenty participants earned approximately AFN 90,000 in on-the-spot sales, while the businesses received more than 30 customer orders. One entrepreneur also secured a one-year agreement to supply up to 20 wedding dresses per month to a Kabul wedding hall, a valuable opportunity for sustained income.

Bringing together more than 40 visitors from NGOs and the private sector, the exhibition helped participants showcase their products, build business relationships, and reach new customers.

“This exhibition gave me the opportunity to introduce my products to new customers and build connections that can help my business grow,” said Rona, one of the participants.

These opportunities reflect AAA’s commitment to its first strategic priority, Women and Girls Empowerment. By supporting women-led organizations and improving access to markets, AAA helps women strengthen their livelihoods and build greater economic independence.
