ActionAid, Afghanistan Participates in DIHAD 2026
ActionAid, Afghanistan participated in the 22nd Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD 2026), held from 24 to 26 August 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Under the theme “Humanitarianism in Transition: Shaping the Future of Humanitarian Action,” the three-day conference brought together humanitarian leaders, development organizations, partners and changemakers from around the world. It provided an important platform for sharing experiences, strengthening partnerships and exploring innovative solutions to humanitarian and sustainable development challenges.
Representing ActionAid Afghanistan, Mr. Simon Wankuru, Head of Programs, contributed to a panel discussion titled “Locally Led Humanitarian Action in Conflict Zones: Connecting Humanitarian, Peace and Resilience,” held on 24 August at the Nexus Arena.
During the session, Mr. Wankuru shared ActionAid Afghanistan’s experience of working alongside communities affected by conflict and humanitarian crises. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that communities play a meaningful role in identifying priorities, shaping decisions and holding humanitarian systems accountable.
ActionAid, Afghanistan emphasized that humanitarian responses in conflict-affected contexts must connect immediate assistance with peace, resilience, advocacy and social accountability. This approach enables communities not only to respond to urgent needs but also to influence their futures and contribute to lasting change.
Throughout DIHAD 2026, ActionAid representatives welcomed visitors to the organization’s booth and shared experience.
