Enhancing Agricultural Sustainability in Bamiyan through ActionAid’s Micro Greenhouse Initiatives

In a significant stride towards promoting sustainable agriculture, 250 micro greenhouses (MGH) have been established by ActionAid, Afghanistan in Bamyan Center and Kahmard district under the 106-FAO project. This initiative aims to empower local farmers and enhance agricultural practices in the region. Recently, local farmers in these districts received a comprehensive set of 12 essential tools to support their farming endeavors. This toolkit includes 6 types of certified seeds, seed germination trays, pruning shears, 2 varieties of NPK fertilizers, vegetable plastic crates, peat moss, and digital thermometers. These resources are crucial in enabling farmers to cultivate a diverse range of crops effectively, even in challenging climate conditions. By equipping farmers with these vital tools and seeds, the project seeks to maximize the productivity of micro greenhouses. These structures have the capacity to grow vegetables, herbs, and other crops, offering a sustainable solution for agriculture in the face of harsh environmental factors. Through the distribution of these resources, the project aims to improve food security and uplift the livelihoods of farmers. By providing access to essential tools and knowledge, this initiative not only enhances agricultural sustainability but also fosters economic development within these communities.
