ActionAid Afghanistan Participates in 30th Spring Agriculture Exhibition in Kabul

ActionAid Afghanistan is participating in The Farmer’s Fest and 30th Spring Agriculture Exhibition currently undergoing in Kabul, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock (MAIL) at the Badam Bagh area from May 1st to May 4th, 2024. The event has attracted a significant number of farmers, processors, and representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Afghanistan. Its aim has been to facilitate the exchange of information and promote improved agricultural inputs, with a particular emphasis on seeds.

With the active participation of 1200 individuals, the exhibition has showcased a diverse range of products, including agriculture inputs, fruits and vegetables, dry fruits, handicrafts, beverages, industrial crops, beekeeping, husbandry, solar systems, agriculture processing units, and foodstuffs. The comprehensive display has aimed to strengthen the agricultural sector and drive economic growth.

ActionAid Afghanistan has played a vital role in the exhibition, highlighting the achievements of the CBARD-ALL project, which emphasizes alternative development initiatives in the provinces of Laghman and Nangarhar. By participating in the event, ActionAid Afghanistan has aimed to establish stronger connections within various value chains, exhibit their products, and expand their market presence and impact.

Within the exhibition, ActionAid Afghanistan has set up 9 booths managed by male and female project participants. These booths have showcased a diverse range of products, including fresh fruits, honey, fruit jams, and pickles, storage boxes all produced using the training and toolkits provided by CBARD-ALL, a UNDP’s funded project. Additionally, visitors have had the opportunity to explore samples of fruits and vegetables grown in CBARD-ALL planted orchards and greenhouses.

The exhibition has provided a platform for farmers, processors, traders and SME representatives to exchange knowledge, foster collaborations, and explore innovative agricultural practices. It has not only showcased the resilience, creativity, and potential of Afghan farmers and entrepreneurs but has also highlighted the significant progress made in the agricultural sector. The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock (MAIL) has expressed satisfaction with the exhibition's impact and has reiterated its commitment to supporting the growth and development of agriculture in Afghanistan.
